Yesterday was my Launch Day. On May 2, 2011, I sat down at my laptop computer on my kitchen counter, windows open, coffee at hand, Peroni (that’s our dog … though a beer certainly would have been appropriate) at my feet. And started my business.
Seven years.
I could not have imagined that in the coming years I would:
- write a cookbook
- write a monthly food column for our local newspaper
- write—let alone become editor of—the incredible Edible Ohio Valley magazine
- get to interview trailblazers like Sibella Kraus, founder of the Ferry Plaza Farmers’ Market in San Francisco; Dr. David Eisenberg, a pioneer of the integrative health movement; some of the finest chefs in Cincinnati
- get to collaborate with small local food brands and a global organization for fresh produce and floral growers
- have such a blast teaching cooking classes and giving recipe demonstration all over our region
Yesterday, to mark the occasion, I took the day to utterly, completely screw off. I dug in the dirt, kept my hands busy on a craft project, walked with Rob and Peroni, and generally did not touch that laptop computer. Picked some flowers from my garden. And had a kickass bottle of wine. ‘s all good.
Wow,
You are amazing!
