Vitamix is a 100-year-old family company led by a CEO who’s the fifth member of the Barnard family to hold the reins. More important, it’s a brand that’s beloved worldwide by fans who pursue a healthy, plant-forward way of eating.
The Challenge
The brand marks its centennial anniversary in 2021, and a cookbook was an obvious part of the celebration. CEO Jodi Berg shares the story of her family and the company, their challenges, innovation and passion. Family members and fans of the brand contributed 100 recipes from all over the world.
The Collaboration
The branding and storytelling agency Aespire, whose principal I’ve known for many years, came to me for assistance with editing and content development. Working closely with Vitamix’s culinary manager, I edited 100+ recipes for consistency, accuracy and clarity. I edited all the front and back content, including the family history and a chapter on the benefits of whole foods, and helped write additional content. Preorder sales on Amazon pushed The Vitamix 100th Anniversary Cookbook to best-seller status right at launch.
